


{"id":440,"date":"2019-11-19T23:42:15","date_gmt":"2019-11-19T23:42:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devweb.millardk12.org\/dnes\/?page_id=440"},"modified":"2021-11-22T22:24:26","modified_gmt":"2021-11-22T22:24:26","slug":"council-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.millardk12.org\/dnes\/council-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Council Information"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Details&nbsp;Published: 12 October 2017&nbsp;Hits: 1091<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who is the School Community Council and what do they do?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Every school must have a School Community Council (council) that consists of the principal, school employees and parents.&nbsp; The majority of members are parents.&nbsp; Parents represent parent perspectives on issues and in votes made by the council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The council is responsible to review and propose changes to academic school plans each year.&nbsp; The School Improvement Plan and School LAND Trust Plan outline the student\u2019s greatest academic needs and include an action plan to address them.&nbsp;&nbsp; Both plans are approved by the local school board and then implemented at the school.&nbsp; The School LAND Trust Plan is implemented with funds that increase every year.&nbsp; The council decides how the money is to be spent in the plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Councils have other responsibilities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Parents may bring issues of concern to the council seeking solutions. The council may choose to address them or recommend another group or entity better suited to implement solutions.<\/li><li>The council may also create programs or projects to improve the parent, student, and faculty school experience.<\/li><li>They may make recommendations to the administration of the school and district.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is the time commitment?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Parents on the council will spend around one hour monthly in the meeting.&nbsp; Community members may also visit with council members to express concerns or make recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When and where do they meet?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The council meets monthly usually on the third Tuesday in the principal\u2019s office.&nbsp; Please check the monthly newsletter to find exact date and time each month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why do parents participate?
