It is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test administered by ACT, Inc.<br><br>The purpose of the ACT test is to measure a high school student&#8217;s readiness for college,\u00a0and\u00a0provide colleges with one common\u00a0data point that can be used to compare all applicants.\u00a0College admissions officers\u00a0will review standardized test scores alongside your high school GPA, the classes you took in high school, letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors, extracurricular activities, admissions interviews, and personal essays. How important ACT scores are in the college application process varies from school to school.<br><br>Overall, the higher you score on the ACT and\/or SAT, the more options for attending and paying for college will be available to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El ACT es un examen de ingreso utilizado por la mayor\u00eda de los colegios y universidades para tomar decisiones de admisi\u00f3n. Juniors will take the test in school for free in the spring.  The last chance to take the test to get scores back in time for college and scholarship applications is December.  Students typically do better the second time they take the test.  It&#8217;s important to leave time to re-take the test if you need to raise your score before you apply to college. Some\u00a0colleges outside of Utah may require that you complete the ACT Writing Test. Your composite ACT score is the average of your four section scores, also on a scale from 1 to 36. Colleges outside of Utah will likely accept scores from either the SAT or ACT. That said, you will want to check the preference of the colleges you are applying to outside of Utah. The better your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.military.com\/join-armed-forces\/asvab\/asvab-scores-and-military-jobs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ASVAB score<\/a>, the broader your options.  You do not HAVE to join the military if you take the ASVAB.  Whether you want to join the military or not, the ASVAB connects you with a great career exploration tool and has a conversion tool that allows you to see how you might score on the ACT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ASVAB is given at MHS to interested Juniors and Seniors in the Fall.
