Title IX is a U.S. federal law, passed in 1972, that prohibits discrimination based on sex in any education program or activity receiving federal funding. It is most well-known for ensuring gender equality in sports, but it also covers other areas such as admissions, hiring practices, sexual harassment, and access to educational opportunities. Title IX aims to provide equal treatment and opportunities for all students, regardless of sex.
