Parents and Guardians of Millard School District, after school ended on Tuesday, several parents contacted Fillmore Middle School administration about reports from their students who saw a student with a gun in a backpack at school. Millard County Sheriff’s Department has concluded an investigation and found that the student brought an Airsoft BB gun to school. No threats or intent to harm anyone were made. The student has been suspended from school per district policy. At this point in time, school will be held in all Fillmore schools tomorrow. Parents may keep their students home if they are still concerned. We thank the students and parents who brought this situation to our attention, and we also thank the Millard County Sheriff’s Department for their prompt response and reassurance that no current threat exists from this situation. We ask that all parents take the opportunity to talk to their children about the seriousness of bringing weapons, even non-lethal ones to school. Thanks for your cooperation and support.
