Hello Fillmore Families,
My name is Joel Bowler, and I’m honored to serve as your principal. I’ve been in education for 15 years as a teacher, assistant principal, and trainer of educators nationwide. But my most important role is being a dad. My wife and I have four children, and two of them attend Fillmore Elementary. Because of that, I see each student here as I see my own, and I want this to be the kind of school where they—and every student—feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.
Through all of those experiences, I’ve learned that our greatest resource for student success is not a program or a tool—it’s our teachers. A great teacher can shape a child’s entire school experience, building confidence, fostering curiosity, and creating a love of learning. My priority is to support our teachers, remove obstacles, and give them what they need to help every student thrive.
We don’t just teach academics at Fillmore Elementary; we nurture the whole child. Every student’s social, emotional, and personal growth is just as important as their academic progress. Our goal is for every child to thrive, both in learning and in life.
This Year’s Theme
Our theme for the year is “Rooted in Kindness – Growing in Greatness.” Kindness is the foundation of a strong school community. Not every child will excel in the same areas, but every child can choose to be kind. When kindness guides our words, actions, and decisions, our school becomes a place where young minds flourish and our community grows stronger together.
